How the process will work

The process is flexible. You’ll have time to ask questions, seek independent advice and assess the commitment before joining.

Express interest: Fill in the questionnaire.
Intro chat: Have a 15–30 minute call or meet-up.
Group session: Discuss the model and meet other potential founders.
Expression of interest: Provide your skills, availability and proposed contribution.
Formation meetings: Develop the rules, roles, surplus-sharing model and initial business plan.
Commitment: Agree to the rules, buy your membership share and take on setup tasks.
Registration and trading: Register the co-op before operating under its name.

We will need a core group of at least five people before committing to work on co-op formation and registration. If it’s a fit, then you’ll meet other potential founders.

Who is behind this?

Andrew Klassen has lived in Darwin since 2014, but is originally from Canada. He helped design the sharehouse Heliconia House that he lives in with his partner. Designing built spaces is one of his core passions.

In 2026 Andrew completed a Diploma in Building and Construction (Building) through TAFE Queensland, with the intention of transitioning to a career in construction.
